Signs of desperation
Anyone who doubts the seriousness of the economic downturn should check out the empty parking lots of restaurants and shopping centers, and notice the "sign spinners" standing in the steamy August Florida heat to make a few dollars advertising apartments with "FREE rent for a month" and "Going Out of Business" signs. I'm just sayin'!

I don't think there is any doubt that we have been in a serious recession. Lots of people, mostly young people, have been having great difficulty finding jobs. I think our President and our Congress have been struggling valiantly with our problems, and I think things are getting better, but it is going to take time for the job market to rebound.
