eBay LIVE '08 had its sad moments too. JanieRuth, one of the OSI RockStars was injured in a 10 foot fall while visiting the Art Institute in Chicago. The following is the first account in this saga written June 21. She is still recovering in Chicago; a process that is expected to take several more weeks.
"Because we are not just a site about education, we are definitely also a family, I wanted to update you as soon as I returned from the hospital and received permission from Regan (Janieruth's daughter) to update you on our wonderful Janieruth.
This morning, as some of you know, while at the Art Institute here in Chicago Janieruth fell 10 feet from a banister - we don't know how it happened. She was rushed to the hospital and then immediately into surgery. They operated on her head/brain to relieve a hematoma - a large one on one side and a small one on the other. After a few hours she was moved to ICU. Grannie Annie and her daughter had stayed with Janieruth and her daughter Regan all day helping take care of things. Alex and I were able to see her this evening...and all things considered she is doing quite well. They were expecting to have her in a coma for 2-3 days, yet when we arrived she was coherent, recognized us and even gave us her fabulous Janieruth smile. They will know more tomorrow, but the nurses and dr's are pleased with her progress to this point. Although hooked up to all sorts of tubes and machines, she is responding well to the requests/questions they have asked her. Her husband arrived this evening and they are expecting her son to arrive soon as well. They are currently saying that she will need to stay in the hospital for 10-14 days.
At this point this is all I know."
