I have been meaning to share some of my favorite photos here. The Florida I know and love, is a natural beauty that cannot be duplicated anywhere on earth.
Mangrove forests are a lush paradise for much of the wildlife that lives along the Intercoastal Waterway. The red mangrove pictured here tiptoe along the shoreline converting the salty water to fresh.
They give shelter to fish, birds and crustaceans. If the grove is wide enough, it offers protection from storm surges to people as well. The mangrove is very sensitive to cold and lives only in a limited tropical area.
