Walk Now for Autism Speaks is our chance to make a difference in the fight against autism by raising money for autism research and heightening public awareness. This weekend you have an opportunity to learn more about autism and to support Autism Speaks. The link above will take you to information about activities in your area this weekend.

The 2010 Orlando Walk Now for Autism Speaks is Saturday, Nov. 13th.  It is a great day for the whole family- children on the spectrum and those that are not. There will be games, food and entertainment so invite your friends to come along and celebrate our children! Don't forget there will be a resource fair full of information and providers that are willing and able to assist those affected by autism.

My daughter recently invited us to join her in this meaningful pursuit. For the past two years she has worked with young adults making better lives for themselves and working through their issues with autism spectrum challenges at the Brevard Campus of College Internship Program.

Autism is the second most common developmental disorder in the United States affecting one in every 110 children born today. Despite some promising discoveries, the cause of autism is unknown and a cure does not exist. Research is crucial. Every 15 minutes another child is diagnosed with autism. Not only must we find ways to improve the quality of life for children and adults with autism, but we also must find a cure, and soon.
