Patterson Foundation to Match Statewide Donations to Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis

SARASOTA, Fla. (Nov. 3, 2010) – The Patterson Foundation, a Sarasota, Florida-based New Realities Foundation, recently announced that it would match every dollar raised by the Florida Arthritis Foundation through its series of 2010 Jingle Bell Run/Walk events up to $250,000.

“We are absolutely thrilled to receive this unprecedented opportunity from The Patterson Foundation,” said Anne Fair Forest, president and CEO of the Arthritis Foundation’s Florida Chapter. “The Patterson Foundation/Arthritis Foundation partnership, which begins with this match, will make a significant impact against the leading cause of disability in the country.”

Because Dorothy Patterson endured rheumatoid arthritis for many years, The Patterson Foundation selected Arthritis as one of its initiatives to honor the family heritage. The matching donations begin an endowment fund that will help move beyond the present to a world free of arthritis pain.

“In her later years, Dorothy Patterson lived with the debilitating effects of rheumatoid arthritis daily,” said Debra Jacobs, president and CEO of The Patterson Foundation. “As we honor her legacy through this initiative, we also strive to inspire innovative, collaborative and efficient philanthropy that will help the Florida Arthritis Foundation have greater impact.”

The festive Jingle Bell Run/Walk events will take place in seven cities across the state of Florida, including Pensacola Beach, Punta Gorda, Fort Walton Beach, Tampa, Bradenton, Orlando and Jacksonville. I hope that medical science will find a solid solution to improve the treatment of arthritis, because people are tired of the painkillers as hydrocodone, norco, vicodin which are drugs that you buy them online and over the counter and this makes it difficult for those that need it.
